The Role
Head of People
We’re looking for a hands-on Head of People to build a scalable, people-first foundation across compensation, benefits, recruiting, performance, development, and compliance. You’ll design lightweight, high-leverage processes that help our team do the best work of their careers—without adding bureaucracy. This role reports to the Head of Finance (Zac) and partners closely with our Head of Operations and functional leads.
You’ll start as an IC (with vendor support where useful) and scale programs—and eventually the team—based on company growth.
About You
(Not hard requirements, but a picture of someone who thrives here.)
- Full-stack People Ops leader. 6–12 years across HR/People Ops with 3+ years owning core programs end-to-end at a high-growth startup; healthtech is a plus.
- Builder’s mindset. You favor simple systems, strong documentation, and clear decision rights over heavyweight processes.
- Comp & equity fluent. Comfortable with salary bands, benchmarking, leveling frameworks, and option grants.
- Recruiting do-er. You can source, assess, and close great talent while shaping an equitable, consistent process.
- Manager coach. You help leaders give clear feedback, set expectations, and uplevel their teams.
- Tools & data. Proficient with Gusto/HRIS, background-check vendors, and basic people analytics to inform decisions.
This role might not be a fit if:
- You expect a team on Day 1. You’ll be hands-on before we scale headcount.
- You only want to set strategy. We value strategy and doing the work—writing JDs, running screens, closing candidates.
- You dislike documentation. We rely on memos, pre-reads, and thorough notes as a fully remote org.
Who We’re Looking For
- Clear, kind communicator. Strong in policy writing, storytelling, and tight follow-ups.
- Process-light, outcomes-heavy. You keep the main thing the main thing.
