The Role
Medical Director, Commercial (Part-Time)
We are looking for a Medical Director with expertise in rheumatology to represent WellTheory in sales and client-facing interactions. In this role, you’ll act as the clinical expert supporting our commercial efforts, working closely with employers, health plans, and internal teams to articulate WellTheory’s clinical value and ensure our programs align with industry standards and best practices. This role involves joining sales calls, collaborating with internal teams, and building trust with potential clients.
The ideal candidate will excel at building relationships with healthcare stakeholders, synthesizing clinical insights, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that WellTheory’s offerings meet client needs and improve patient outcomes.
This is a part-time role (up to 20 hours per month) with potential to grow into a full-time position.
About You
These are not strict requirements but describe someone who might be a great fit for WellTheory and this role:
- Rheumatology expertise. You are a board-certified Rheumatologist or have substantial experience managing autoimmune conditions, including familiarity with biologics.
- Holistic health advocate. You believe in the power of lifestyle interventions (nutrition, movement, stress management, sleep) to address autoimmune conditions.
- Strong verbal communicator. You’re a skilled presenter and particularly excel at explaining complex medical concepts to diverse audiences, from executives to non-clinical stakeholders.
- Relationship builder. You excel at building trust and credibility with healthcare stakeholders.
- Collaborative mindset. You thrive in cross-functional teams and enjoy working closely with sales, marketing, and product teams.
Who We’re Looking For
- MD or DO, with board certification in Rheumatology or substantial clinical experience in managing autoimmune conditions.
- Well-versed in modern rheumatic care, including biologics management.
- Ability to engage and build trust with healthcare stakeholders in sales settings.
- Preferred experience:
- Telehealth or remote care delivery.
- 5+ years of healthcare industry experience in commercially-oriented roles.
- Background or expertise in clinical research, education, technology, product design or innovation.
Outside of the specific role, here are qualities that make someone successful at WellTheory:
- Empathy for the autoimmune experience. You don’t need to have an autoimmune condition for this role but you need to have deep empathy for the lived experience of autoimmune patients and be able to effectively convey that to potential customers.
